Prison officers shock BPSA
score a shock 6-5 victory over BPSA on Tuesday.
With challengers BPSA falling by the wayside, defending champions Old Colony Club, who were idle, saw their hold on first place strengthen.
OCC have played 10 games and have a 9-1 won-lost record while BPSA have an 8-3 record.
OCC have matches remaining against Prison Officers, BPSA and two make-up games against Police while BPSA's remaining games are against Eastern Stars and OCC.
On Tuesday, Prison Officers caught BPSA short-handed without international player Alden Ray who had work commitments.
The Officers led five matches to one. When Myron Piper, down 6-10 in the third game, rallied to defeat Curtis Hodgson 21-19, 14-21, 21-18 to level the series 5-5, the match remained in the balance.
Barry Rahman of PO clinched victory for his team by defeating Mike Sterling 21-14, 21-17 in the deciding game.
For Officers Hodgson and Rahman were both 2-1 in singles and won their doubles match. Calvin Butterfield was 1-2.
By going 3-0 for BPSA, Piper managed to increase his won-lost record to 31-2.
Charles Williams was 1-2, Mike Stirling 0-3. The teams split the doubles.
Meanwhile, Eastern Stars won by default over Police.
