weekend in Bermuda talking to teachers about student learning.

Dr. Kenneth Chuska met teachers from middle schools, as well as members of the educational organisation Phi Delta Kappa.

He spoke to them about how best teachers can encourage students to become independent learners, and how to bring out the best in pupils who are gifted or have particular talents.

He was brought to the Island by Phi Delta Kappa President Earl Hart, who is Deputy Principal at Spice Valley Middle School.

However, he was also a guest speaker at the Middle Schools Association annual conference at Sonesta Beach Hotel.

But it was not the first time Dr. Chuska had visited Bermuda.

He said: "I have been to Bermuda before and I really enjoy coming here.

"What I see is a lot of teachers with enthusiasm and a lot of people who are willing to work to improve what it is they are doing.
