was yesterday charged with assault.

Paul J. Lopes, 30, of Daniel's Head Road, Sandys, was also charged in Magistrates' Court with escaping Police custody and possessing a weapon, a kitchen knife.

Lopes, who was represented by Mr. Michael Scott, was not required to enter a plea. The matters were adjourned for mention on October 4.

Lopes denied driving while impaired, and driving while having an excessive alcohol content, that is more than the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis granted Lopes $800 bail with a like surety.
