Sales staff finding it easier to sell Elbow Beach abroad
ELBOW BEACH sales director Mrs. Fran Tucker is finding her job a lot easier these days.
She and her three local staff have what is essentially a brand-new luxury hotel to sell, and now four Wyndham Resorts sales offices to help them sell it.
"We have so much confidence in our product now -- we're so proud of it. We have always had the best location and the best beach. Now we can tell people we have a brand-new hotel on the best location they can possibly imagine. It does make my job easier, because all we really have to sell the hotel is let people walk through the door!'' Since the hotel's official opening on April 15, they have shown the hotel to approximately 500 travel agents. They are also working with the Wyndham offices on new literature and marketing tactics, and Mrs. Tucker, who has been with the hotel for 10 years, is confident sales will rise dramatically as a result.
"I think Wyndham is very, very guest-oriented, and very sales oriented as well, which is going to help me a lot. I feel we have tremendous support now in the field of sales.'' The quality of management should also go a long way towards making the Elbow Beach a particularly attractive product in the overseas market, she said.
"Before, we were privately owned by an English family, and we managed ourselves. Now, being part of an American company, there are a lot of philosophies and standard operating procedures -- there is a lot of standardisation, and I think that's good. People don't have to figure out what to do -- it's all there in the corporate policy.
"It's a fresh new start -- a new beginning. There is a whole new feeling and attitude, and we have a brand-new hotel to go with it.'' MRS. FRAN TUCKER -- finding it easy to sell a new-look luxury hotel in a prime location.
