Bascome: Woman `not living in car'

But Mr. Bascome went on to say the woman -- reportedly named Mrs. Powell -- had been living in overcrowded conditions with her sister.

"She's been living with her sister in a Housing Corporation house. And we have also extended assistance to the sister as well while she is staying there,'' he said.

Mr. Bascome said his office began working with the woman last December.

"She was offered accommodation last year and she declined at that time,'' he explained. "We're looking right now to secure guest housing or something a little more permanent for her.'' HOUSING HSG
