And then there was Daphne Nair.

It could be reasonably expected that Wayne Furbert et al would be allowed to tour their own Airport. (See story above.) But apparently not. Mrs. Nair was not about to break the rules -- for anyone.

Mr. Furbert and Airport Operations manager Jack Gordon were leading the party on a tour of work going on at the Airport.

They reached an entrance taking the group to the first floor -- but that was as far as they got.

In her blue Island Wide Security company uniform, Mrs Nair stood firm: No passes, no way through.

Objections from Mr. Gordon failed to impress and Mr. Furbert was no more successful.

Mrs. Nair won the day and the party, rather sheepishly, was forced to take the long way around.

"At least we know that our security works,'' the Transport Minister was heard to mutter.
