Govt. plans drug recovery facility

This was revealed in response to questions about drugs and crime when last night's first Town Hall meeting of the fall season got under way.

Premier David Saul, Education Minister Jerome Dill and Technology Minister John Barritt took Government's Town Hall Meetings to Devonshire.

Many voiced concerns about the Island's drug problem at the meeting, held at Elliott School on Hermitage Road.

Mr. Dill maintained that there was progress being made in the war against drugs and said he planned to make an announcement soon about a drug recovery facility.

"It will be a safe haven where they (the rehabilitated) can be integrated back into society,'' Mr. Dill said. "Many find that once they clean themselves up, they have no job skills or training. Here they would be able to learn a trade.''
