Men show interest in new group
Mister Caring of the 90s! At least, that's if a proposed new Bermudian group has its way.
The "Men's Issues Group'' plans to offer therapy to those fed up with being macho.
And already it has set off a wave of interest from would-be members.
"I've been pleased by the interest. There are virtually enough interested people to get started. I hope to begin very shortly,'' said organiser Mr.
David Gosling.
The group is for "those who feel trapped by traditional male roles, frustrated by inability to express feelings, or isolated by the need to appear strong and self-sufficient''.
And it goes on to appeal to men who are "tired of being John Wayne and think that there's more to life than being macho.'' Father-of-two Mr. Gosling, 42, who has a master's degree in counselling, said many men led stunted lives by concealing their feelings.
The group would promote freedom of expression by encouraging men to talk about themselves in two-hourly sessions.
