High winds cause damage

Police, firefighters and electric workers were called out to clear up the damage after a string of 911 calls across the Island.

The Bermuda Electric Light Company sent engineers to Devonshire, Sandys and Hamilton Parish after reports of live wires and poles strewn across roads.

They fixed damage at Vesey Street, Watlington Road West and Broome Street and carried out safety checks outside the Swizzle Inn after a pole was seen sparking.

Police were also called to move a tree which was blown over near Devonshire Liquors on South Road.
