C&W locates cable fault

service from the Island should be repaired by tomorrow, Cable & Wireless said yesterday.
The fault in the fibre optic cable had been located about 400 miles off Brean in the United Kingdom and was being repaired by the cable ship Sovereign, the company said.
"Damage appears to be consistent with some type of fishing trawler activity in the area.'' The fault last week disrupted some telephone, fax, and other communications.
Cable & Wireless rerouted communications to the United States via a Tortola cable link and via satellite from its earth station in Devonshire.
