Akil Jones, 17, of 45 Cambridge Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing an auxiliary cycle, causing wilful damage to it, and driving the cycle without a driver's licence.

Senior Magistrate William Francis noted the defendant's age before imposing the sentence.

Crown Counsel Leighton Rochester told the court that at 1.30 a.m. on June 6 Police stopped Jones and two other men on Middle Road, Southampton.

The two other men ran off but Jones later admitted to stealing the bike which had it's ignition removed.
