In October, 1992, he was given 100 hours community service for indecently assaulting a woman in Pembroke. The following April he was locked up for not doing his community service.

He appeared regularly before the courts and racked up convictions for assault, theft and possession of an offensive weapon until May, 1994, when he took part in brutally beating golf caddy Brian Sherlock.

Incredibly, the court heard, he was convicted of two assaults within two months of Mr. Sherlock's death. He was released from prison in March, 1998, but a year later he was given nine months for theft. In August he got 18 months for robbery.
