a Pembroke high school on Tuesday.

The teacher told Police a 16-year-old male student pushed her and swore at her before leaving the classroom at the end of a lesson period.

The teacher was uninjured, and the matter is being investigated, Police said.

Police spokesman Insp. Coggie Gibbons refused to provide any more details.

Bermuda Union of Teachers head and Opposition Senator Milton Scott yesterday urged teachers to contact the union and Police if they were assaulted by students.

In the Senate recently, Mr. Scott said there were more acts of violence occurring in schools than among the public at large.

"Any problems are of concern to us. If a member has any concerns they will contact us and our advice to them is to contact the Police,'' he said yesterday.
