The Education Department announced the appointment this week and said that it takes effect on October 18.

Mrs. Alexander has served in the public school system since 1981 when she joined Warwick Secondary School in the English Department.

For seven of the 16 years she spent at the school, Mrs. Alexander headed that department.

In September, 1997, she became a full-time mentor for new teachers and while in this position she co-presented at many workshops organised for teachers in the Government system.

In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Alexander is also an active member of Phi Delta Kappa International Education Fraternity and has held the posts of research representative and vice president for programmes.
