admitted sexually exploiting a 14-year-old boy.

The Warwick man was arrested on October 27 after Police were called to Probation Services on Cedar Avenue. Officers were met by a probation officer who directed them to a room in which the man was waiting in an extremely emotional state.

He told them he had sexually exploited a minor and was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was later interviewed under caution.

The man told Police he had known his victim for about three months and that the two separate instances of exploitation both occurred while they were skylarking in his apartment and were fully clothed. The first incident was alleged to have occurred between September 1 and September 30 when the boy hit the man in the genitals.

The court heard he hit the boy back in the genitals and later, when the boy fell asleep on the floor, the man touched him in the area of his genitals with the palm of his hand.

The second incident was alleged to have occurred between October 1 and October 27 when the boy hit the man in the genitals and he hit him back in the genitals.

The court heard that the man again became excited by this incident.

The man admitted being attracted to young boys and was convicted in 1998 of touching a child for a sexual purpose and went to jail for three years. He told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner before sentencing: "I'm sorry for messing up ace girl's family. I got molested when I was young and nobody knew anything about it and I know I need help.'' Mr. Warner noted: "You were given three years for a similar offence, didn't you receive any treatment?'' "Yes,'' he replied. "And what happened?'' asked Mr. Warner.

"I need one on one. I'm in a group and it doesn't help,'' he said.

Mr. Warner then said: "I understand there is a formal comprehensive sex offenders' programme at Westgate and clearly you are a threat to this society and young boys.'' He was then sentenced to four years on each count, to run concurrently, with the recommendation that he be given all treatment necessary and available for sex offenders. The maximum sentence that could have been imposed in Magistrates' Court is five years.
