Although travellers to India are considered to be at low risk for infection, they have been advised on returning to Bermuda to report immediately to a physician if any illness with a fever develops within seven days after leaving India.

In addition, all travellers arriving from India in the last seven days have been asked to make sure Immigration officers have detailed and accurate addresses where they will be staying, as well as work and home telephone numbers.

"All persons intending to travel to India should be aware of the risks, even though it is small,'' the Department bulletin said.

Officials also recommended would-be travellers to delay travelling until further notice.
