Economy Minister's plea over training
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8: Economy Minister Kim Wilson this morning repeated her plea to tradesmen to accept the challenge of becoming more marketable to help protect their jobs during the recession.
Earlier this week Senator Wilson urged construction workers to use the economic slowdown as an opportunity to improve their training.
This morning speaking in the Senate, she said:?“I am again appealing to professionals in all trades to accept the challenge of becoming competitive.
“My message is singular in focus - making ourselves marketable during this period, involves training and retraining if we are to stay competitive in the job market.
“It should be our collective goal to have a community that is satisfied that all service providers in all industries make an effective contribution to Bermuda.”
Sen Wilson was speaking as she outlined latest National Certification Programme statistics which showed 194 electricians have been recommended for National Certification.
