Student athletes honoured
Memorial Awards -- considered to be the most prestigious in the BSSF progamme -- were handed out yesterday.
This years winners were Jacobi Robinson, 12, of West End Primary, Nigel Burgess, 16, of Warwick Academy, and Bonnie Leibowitch, 16, and Ashley Aitkin, 12, of Saltus.
The nominees and the four winners were honoured yesterday at a reception at the Belmont Hotel.
This year was the 12th annual presentation of the awards, created in honour of the late Denton Hurdle, a former physical education teacher and Bermuda international rugby player.
Winners were chosen because they were role models, possessed sportsmanship, self-discipline, dedication to training, determination, co-operation, and an excellent attitude in school.
