Revived Wolves sink BAA
Two goals in the second half by Marlon Lindsay and one by Dion Wainwright enabled Wolves to come from behind to score a two-goal victory over BAA in this Second Division make-up game at Devonshire Rec. last night.
But a spirited BAA team were not out of it until they were floored once and for all three minutes from time when Lindsay put the match out of their reach with his second goal, which came from a Shannon Berkeley cross.
Just before that crucial blow by Lindsay, BAA had come close to grabbing the equaliser with Norman Correira powering a shot over and Robert Pacheco missing a sitter from 10 yards.
But these two chances combined with a fine shot from David Roberts, which was grabbed by goalkeeper Andre Smith after 65 minutes, was all that BAA could manage during a second half that was dominated by Wolves.
BAA had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Duncan Ashworth after 24 minutes, the goal coming after they had forced three consecutive corners with the Wolves defence had been stretched to the limit.
But Wolves slowly came into the game and BAA goalkeeper Philip Bolton prevented an equaliser after 35 minutes when he pushed Ramsey Saggar's free kick over the bar.
Wolves were a rejuvenated team when play started for the second half and they took the initiative when Wainwright created the opening for Lindsay to make it 1-1 after slipping through the middle after 55 minutes.
Substitute Albert Thomas missed a sitter for Wolves soon after, but Wainwright followed this up with a second goal after taking a pass from Berkeley.
Then with little time left Lindsay came through with goal number three to seal victory for Wolves.
