BIBA setting up e-commerce directory
directory of local e-commerce providers.
The service, which will be listed at www.biba.org, is free to members of BIBA but will cost $100 for non-members to get a listing.
A spokesperson for BIBA said the aim of the site was to facilitate greater access to Bermuda's e-commerce companies and provide a central point of reference for information.
BIBA Chairman, Raymond Medeiros, said: "As Bermuda continues to make its mark in the world of e-business, people are increasingly seeking information about our Island's capabilities and offerings in this regard. This directory will make searching for Bermuda's e-commerce related services significantly easier for the cyberspace browser by providing a central location and reference point.'' He added: "Bermuda has earned a reputation as being an offshore leader in the e-commerce field. This directory will further enhance that status by simplifying the potentially arduous process of sifting for information relating to our world class service providers.'' The directory, which has come out of BIBA's e-commerce commercial applications sub-committee, will include an overview section detailing Bermuda as an e-commerce jurisdiction.
This introductory page will also contain hyperlinks to relevant sites, such as the Ministry of Telecommunications and e-Commerce.
Local e-commerce service providers will be listed under appropriate categories, including Transaction /Payment Processing; Business-to-Business Exchanges; Risk Management and Offshore Funds.
The listing will include a very brief description of services, contact information, a logo and a link to the firms' website.
It will go live on September 1, 2000. For further information please contact BIBA's Marketing Manager Ross Webber on 292 0632 or rwebber ybiba.org.
