Museum gets shot in the arm
Maritime Museum in its Registrar Department.
Clarence Maxwell earned his Ph.D. in history in 1998 at the University of Warwick's Centre for Caribbean Studies in Coventry, England.
Dr. Maxwell's research focused on resistance strategies used by people of African descent during the last 134 years of slavery in Bermuda.
His work in the Registrar's office includes processing historical and archeological inventory.
And Dr. Maxwell noted that his present position offers him "a better understanding of the everyday aspects of Bermuda's history''.
Dr. Maxwell recently participated in a prestigious Harvard University seminar entitled "International Seminar on the History of the Atlantic World'' along with 37 other scholars.
He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from Saint Leo College in Florida in 1985, and later received a second Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Keele in the UK.
And Dr. Maxwell received a Master of Arts degree in Historical Research from the University of Hull.
