James Church in Somerset on Tuesday night was last night listed in critical but stable condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The 64-year-old Sandys Parish man, who Police refused to name, suffered serious head and facial injuries in the accident which occurred around 5.45 p.m.

The cause of the accident, which left the man trapped in the van until firefighters arrived, is still under investigation.
