Somerset -- is back in action with a family day planned for Somerset Village on Saturday.

The reactivated group of business people are also planning a number of other events this summer, including a flea market next month.

Spokesperson Mrs. Sheryl Martins said that it all begins with the community day on Saturday that will include the Somerset Brigade Band with the Warwick Majorettes leading a parade that starts from the village and ends up at Dean's Bakery on Manchester Street.

"It will be like a street festival starting at 6 p.m.,'' Mrs. Martins said.

"This is to generate business and remind people that they don't have to go straight through Somerset enroute elsewhere, but could stop in the village.

"There will be restaurants having samples of food. There will be some craft work as well, and carriage rides for the children and hopefully a fun castle to keep children occupied while the parents are looking around.'' The flea market next month will be in a different location.

Mrs. Martins is the manager of Somerset Pharmacy and her family owns Let's Party in Somerset, a retail outlet for gifts and other items for parties.
