Leo William Lee, of Union Street, lost control of his car and hit a "give way'' sign while travelling on Trimmingham Hill, in Paget.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Police came upon the single-vehicle accident at 8.15 p.m. on May 13 and found that Lee's eyes were red and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Lee was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where attempts to get a proper breath sample failed.

Acting Magistrate Kim White banned Lee from driving all vehicles for 12 months and fined him $450.

The officers found two homemade cigarettes, which contained 1.02 grams of cannabis, in Shaw's waist pack.

Before ordering Shaw to pay a $500 fine, Acting Magistrate Kim White told him: "This community has a dim view of drugs... We are in the midst of a crack-down on drugs in this Island. But in your case I think we can deal with this with a fine.''
