"A number of businesses have received letters requesting details of bank accounts, and company letter-headed paper mainly from countries such as Nigeria,'' Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said.

"We have, on a number of occasions warned the public about responding to such letters unless they are satisfied with the legitimacy of the author.''
