The Bermuda Stock Exchange index slipped 8.14 points to close at 1,623.9 on share volume of 53,544, valued at $1,141,552.

Bank of Butterfield closed unchanged at $16 on a volume of 36,568. Bank of Bermuda finished 50 cents lower at $39 after 12,226 shares changed hands. The only other active banking issue was Bank of Bermuda Warrants which were unchanged at $16 after 1,100 traded.
Argus Insurance closed 50 cents higher at $17 on a volume of 3,650.
