Uncertainty surrounds

But they are staying tight-lipped about what they are doing, and whether the $3.5 million project will go ahead as scheduled.

It is due be aired on US, Canadian and British TV networks, as a pilot movie for a major detective series.

It is the brainchild of hit Hollywood writers Mr. Will Osborne and Mr. Will Davies, whose box office successes include "Twins'' and "Stop or My Mom Will Shoot''.

Mr. Osborne is in Bermuda, and Mr. Davies is expected soon.

Last month, it was announced filming would start towards the end of April. The Yesterday spokesmen for the project refused to comment on progress.

Ms Vanda Rumney, of co-producers London Weekend Television, would only comment: "I can't say anything until we're in a position to say something.'' Titled "Bermuda Grace'', the planned movie features the adventures of an American detective and his partner, an English officer in the Bermuda Police.

TV chiefs hope Bermuda's British-flavoured Police force and wealthy North American residents will create enough interest for what is billed as a "major international action-adventure series''.

Scenes are also scheduled to be shot in Toronto, which would double for Philadelphia on screen.

It is understood the Canadian shoot would take place before filming in Bermuda.

The movie has been pre-sold to networks in Britain and the US.
