St. David's leave out Bascome and Steede

Eastern Counties final today against champions Bailey's Bay at Lord's (10 a.m.). In the process they have omitted Herbie Bascome, one of the outstanding bowlers in Cup Match, and the in-form Western Stars batsman Albert Steede from a team that has five changes from last year. However, in the process they have shown faith in youngsters Chris Foggo and Rudell Pitcher who will make their debuts.

Foggo, at just 15, has been having an outstanding first full season for the senior team and gets his just reward alongwith allrounder Pitcher. Foggo will be the wicketkeeper and is likely to open the batting for the challengers, probably with captain Shea Pitcher. Both youngsters were reserves just a year ago.

With no `outside' players chosen the team has a new look about it with Foggo, Rudell Pitcher, Dean Pitcher, Sammy Robinson and George Cannonier coming in to replace Steede, Bascome, Phillip Pitcher, Gregg Foggo and James Pace.

Hollis is back from Scottish club Fruechie and will be one of the spinners the club will be banking on after seamers Lionel Cann, Rudell Pitcher, Cannonier and Robinson.

St. David's have again chosen a team deep in batting with young spinner Stephen Outerbridge coming in as a colt. Bay are hit by the suspension of Corey Hill, who missed the last round, and Clarkie Trott, who is off the Island. Retained again are guest players Dexter Basden and Andre Manders to boost the batting. Add to that Roger Trott, Glenn Blakeney, captain Charlie Marshall, Irving Romaine, Noel Gibbons and Call Dill and St. David's will get some idea of the task awaiting them as they attempt to penetrate the champions' batting.

Bailey's Bay also have an important match tomorrow when they meet St. George's to decide the title in the Premier Division Open Championship. Just a point separates leaders Bay from St. George's in second place and the winners will take the title as defending champions Western Stars, in third, would not be able to overtake.

Stars' best hope is for a draw but with six bonus points up for grabs even their win over PHC may not be enough. In the other matches St. David's entertain Police and Southampton are at home to Willow Cuts.
