Allan L. Butterfield, 32, of Church Hill, Sandys, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing $100 from a visitor at Rosemont Guest House in Pembroke.
Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Butterfield, who worked at the guest house, stole the money from a woman's handbag after she had left it in her hotel room before going sightseeing.
Sgt. Taylor added that the visitor noticed the money missing when she returned.
Butterfield was arrested on August 18 and admitted to Police that he took the money when he was in the room helping a chambermaid.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis told Butterfield: "When a person uses his position to steal like this, I have to regard it as serious.'' He fined Butterfield $350.
