Bermuda tops in tourism survey
top travel magazine's readers.
The news came in the October issue of Travel and Leisure which recently conducted its first reader poll through survey questionnaires sent out to thousands of people.
Bermuda seized the top position alongside Australia's Great Barrier Reef in the survey, beating out the Hawaiian islands and Caribbean competitors Barbados and the Cayman Islands.
And readers of the magazine also named two local hotels in its Top 25 best Caribbean and Bermuda hotels' list.
The Southampton Princess took the number two position followed by the Princess in 11th place.
Topping the survey was the Four Seasons resort in Nevis.
Princess Properties regional vice-president Stephen Barker said: "We are proud that both our resorts received such impressive accolades.
"It reinforces the fact that we have two world-class properties right here in Bermuda.'' Also in the poll, Bermuda visitor British Airways was ranked eighth amongst the ten best airlines in the world and Delta and American Airlines were third and fourth respectively amongst US carriers.
And cruise lines whose ships regularly visit the Island fared well in the survey with Celebrity Cruises taking sixth place and Royal Caribbean Cruises taking eighth place in the list of the top ten best cruise lines.
