Motorists warned about thefts from cars
valuables in motorcars.
It follows the latest incident in which a wallet was stolen from an unlocked car on Joell's Alley in Hamilton.
Police report that locking the car doors is no longer a sufficient preventative measure to secure valuables.
It appears some criminals have developed the ability to interfere with the locking devices on some cars.
Motorists are advised to still lock their cars, but remove any valuables from unattended cars and report any suspicious activities they may witness.
The public is also reminded that such a warning is particularly relevant during the holiday season which will usually see an increase in the number of valuable items being stored in cars.
A man is in Police custody for the Joell's Alley theft on Thursday morning.
The car owner had returned to her car and found the thief had slipped away with the wallet containing cash in various denominations.
