Anthony Bruce Puller, of Hamilton Harbour, was with five friends cruising around Castle Harbour and celebrating Heritage Day when they were stopped by Marine Police.
Officers saw Puller's Boston Whaler travelling at 65 knots and pulled him over.
When they boarded his boat they noticed his breath smelled of intoxicants and his speech was slurred.
The 33-year-old man told officers that he had drunk a few beers while on board the boat and asked: "Can't you go easy on me? It's not like I've done anything wrong.''
