Students boost College pride
lot is riding on them.
After last month's attack of vandalism, in which racial and anti-colonial graffiti was anonymously spray-painted all over the cafeteria walls, Business Administration majors decided it was time for some morale boosting.
Noticing the stock of bland navy and red school tee-shirts and other "Bermuda College'' emblazoned items at the main Stonington campus store were almost ly not selling at all, the 12-student marketing class, as part of a class project, sent our surveys to find out what the students wanted to wear.
Miss Amanda Rech then put their ideas to paper, designing a logo of an intertwined "B'' and "C'' on computer in the most popular colours.
Miss Rech and her classmates, who include student council president Ms Juanita Rozzell, then took their proposals to a "board meeting'' with the college's financial administrators in an effort to secure financial backing for the business venture.
They got the okay and went to work.
True Reflections made the T-shirts and the class started selling them during class breaks.
"They researched it just as they would any other marketing proposal,'' marketing lecturer Mr. Leslie Holder said. Most of his students will go on to an overseas institution to get a business degree after completing the two year programme at the college, he said.
Student Mr. Ronnie Farag said several dozen of the T-shirts had been sold this week and they were hoping for booming business during tomorrow's "Main Event'' open house at the college.
ENTREPRENEURS -- Showing off the new "BC'' school tee-shirts they designed to boost morale are Bermuda College marketing class students: Miss Jamila Simmons, Miss Juanita Rozzell, Miss Jennifer Ward, Mr. Ronnie Farag, Miss Robyn Semos and Miss Zina Bean.
