He also let out a torrent of abuse, said prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant.

Marshall, however, gave Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis a different version of events.

The 20-year-old said he became aggressive after a Policeman grabbed him by the collar, and pushed him into some trees.

He also claimed an officer slapped him in the face and said: "You are not so tough street boy are you?'' Mr. Francis cut Marshall short and adjourned the case until March 31 for a social inquiry report. He bailed him in the sum of $500.

Earlier, Marshall, of Middle Town Lane, Pembroke, admitted obstructing a Police officer and violently resisting arrest.

Sgt. Grant said the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on January 8.

He said Police officers in Union Street saw Marshall travelling on a motorbike, and stopped him in Parsons Road.

As they did so, Marshall was seen reaching into his left front trouser pocket, said Sgt. Grant.

When questioned, Marshall appeared nervous. His eyes were also glazed.

Sgt. Grant said Marshall accused the officer of harassing him and began swearing.

Police back-up was required when Marshall became violent, he added.
