Needing a draw against Jamaica to progress to the next phase of qualifying, the gallant Bermuda team went down 4-2 in front of a large and noisy crowd at the National Stadium.
Jamaica took the lead in the first half, but Bermuda equalised with a penalty from Curt Stovell on the hour.
It looked as if coach Kenny Thompson and his team would hang on for a place in the next round of the competition. But Jamaica scored three times in the last 11 minutes to shatter the Island team's dreams.
