The figures were released yesterday by the Statistics Department of the Ministry of Finance.

The main rise came from the higher cost of tuition fees and the higher cost of local private schools, at 5.9 percent, and overseas colleges, at four percent.

The cost of fuel also went up 2.1 percent and clothing and footwear rose by 0.8 percent.
