possibly one of the last helicopter search and rescue operations before the Base hand over next month.

A Harbour Radio spokesman reported US Navy helicopter Bermuda 1 was called out after a 31-foot fishing boat Cheers reported it had lost its bearings.

Just after 10:45 a.m. a man on board the boat radioed to say he could not see land and had become disorientated on his way back from the Challenger Bank.

The helicopter which was on assignment in the West End, refulled and searched the area around Chub Head Beacon south of the Island.

A call from Cheers just before noon confirmed land had been spotted. The helicopter eventually located the vessel 50 miles south of Gibbs Hill.

It confirmed the three men on board were in good health and had adequate fuel before turning around.

The boat arrived back in St. George's just before 5 p.m.

POLICE INVESTIGATE RAKE ATTACK CRM Police investigate rake attack Police are investigating an attack by a dog owner who reportedly injured the man with a garden rake.

The assault took place at 8 p.m. on Harington Sound Road in Smith's Parish.

Police said the man was chasing the dog off his property when the incident took place.

The victim was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for a suspected broken bone in his hand, stitches and other cuts and abrasions.

The victim was taken to King Edward VII Hospital for treatment to the head as a result of this incident.

A visiting couple said they returned from dinner on Tuesday evening to discover that someone had entered their room and removed a handbag containing cash and a "large quantity'' of jewellery.

Anthony C. Dillworth, of Middle Road, pleaded not guilty to the charge yesterday, but he admitted possessing an offensive weapon namely a four-inch blade lock knife.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis bailed Dillworth in the sum of $800 with a like surety and made conditions that he make no contact with the complainant or any witnesses in the case.
