Search is on now for middle school teachers
schools.
Acting Education Permanent Secretary Harrichund Sukdeo told The Royal Gazette the Education Ministry had to advertise the posts internally before publishing them in the Official Gazette.
And he said it was premature to disclose the level of interest by teachers in the posts.
But Mr. Sukdeo noted that middle level education was scheduled to begin in Primary Seven classes in September and therefore the placement of middle school teachers at that level needed to be completed before the beginning of the new school year.
"We have a schedule for the process,'' he added.
Advertising for some 20 new scale middle school posts are also expected to appear in the Official Gazette in September.
Successful candidates for the posts, which will include teacher team leaders and deputy principals of the upcoming five middle schools, will be announced in the fall.
Meanwhile the Education Ministry will hold a two-week middle school curriculum writing workshop for some 60 teachers at the Bermuda College on Monday.
Education Minister Jerome Dill and Mr. Sukdeo -- who is also the coordinator of the education restructuring team -- will address teachers at the opening of the workshop at 9 a.m.
Restructuring curriculum coordinator Helen Stemler will follow with an overview of the four-hour workshop.
