Hotels and residents in Paget reported that their phones were put out of service in the thunderstorms, which hit the island when Tropical Storm Floyd passed by early on Thursday.

Acting general manager of the Bermuda Telephone Company Mr. Collington Perinchief told the Royal Gazette that the major reports of down phone lines were reported by Horizons and Cottages, Elbow Beach Hotel and Coral Beach Hotel.

"These problems are being repaired. We are making an effort to get the phone lines restored'', Mr. Perinchief said.

"This weekend we have additional workers working on an overtime schedule so phone lines can be repaired quickly.'' Mr. Perinchief asked anyone who is still having phone problems to contact the Telephone Company.
