And a new Act designed to allow mortgages of aircraft and aircraft engines to be held in Bermuda -- which complements the Island's increasing Register of Aircraft -- was also aproved.

The new Act allows planes and plane engines "owned by or in the possession of a Bermuda company'' to be used as security for a loan.

John Barritt (UBP) questioned the lack of protection for bad debts in the Act.

But Transport Minister Ewart Brown said: "There is an indemnity clause and that's in place now.''
