cedars and other trees as a result of a collective effort by the National Trust and the Earth Day Committee.

The contribution comes as both the Trust and Earth Day celebrate 25 years of existence.

And the trees -- 25 cedars, three palmettos, and three olivewoods -- will be planted by members of the Trust's Environmental Committee, the Earth Day Committee and A.N.T.S. (Another National Trust Service).

The commemorative planting -- on Saturday, beginning at 9.30 a.m. -- was organised in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Parks which designated the planting sites.

The Parks Department has been progressively replanting native species and the Trust said Saturday's planting of native cedars, palmettos, and olivewoods will significantly contribute to the endemic plants in Bermuda's park lands.

A light picnic lunch for those participating in the planting will follow.

The Trust's annual Palm Sunday Walk takes place tomorrow, starting at 2 p.m.

at Warwick Secondary School.

The popular six-mile walk runs from the school along the South Shore as far as Elbow Beach and then returns along the Railway Trail.
