have caused disruptions in a local company's long distance service yesterday.

A TeleBermuda International spokesman last night confirmed the outage which is thought to have lasted a couple of hours.

Technicians spent the afternoon and part of the evening checking lines and testing the connection once it was up and running again.

The spokesman could not confirm the cause but said it was not caused in Bermuda.

He said: "Service is being deployed. It looks as though there was a power surge in the US. It's too early right now to say what it was. Anything else would be speculation.''
