UBP MP C.V. (Jim) Woolridge, Shadow Minister for Works and Engineering, held a pocket-sized television in his lap during the budget debate for the Ministry of Development, Opportunity and Government Services.

Although the TV's long antenna could clearly be seen from across the room, Chairman Walter Lister made no mention of it until well into the proceedings.

Mr. Lister then interrupted Minister Terry Lister's speech in order to tell Mr. Woolridge such devices could not be operated in the House.

But Mr. Woolridge questioned why he could not enjoy what was believed to be a cricket test match since the volume was not turned up.

However, Mr. Lister once again said the TV could not be operated in the House and invited Mr. Woolridge and any members who cared to join him to leave the room and enjoy it elsewhere.

Mr. Woolridge eventually turned off the television -- and left the room a few minutes later.
