Bermuda out of Miss Universe
Island will not be represented at the Miss Universe Contest later this year.
It means Miss Bermuda Colita Joseph and Miss Tourism Patrice Hollis will retain their titles until 1994.
Agent for the Miss Universe event, Mr. Wentworth Christopher said the Miss Bermuda contest had been cancelled because of reorganisation. Mr. Christopher said it would go ahead as normal in 1994.
He said: "It would not be appropriate to say there was a problem. Suffice it to say that the pageant is in the process of reorganisation so there will be no pageant next year.
"The present Miss Bermuda and Miss Tourism will retain their titles for another year.'' Miss Joseph said that she had not heard the news officially and said she had mixed feelings.
She said: "It was nice to win the title but for a whole year you basically have to give up everything. You have to put everything you want to do aside.
You cannot say no when anyone makes a request.
"I thought that by by March I would be able to relax and have my own life back just to be myself.'' Miss Joseph said she had spoken to Miss Hollis who said that they were expected to take part in the May 24 Parade.
She said: "I have also been told that next year I will not be expected to do everything, but at the moment I am not sure.''
