multi-storey car park at noon on Tuesday.

And for the rest of the week parking will be free, said Corporation of Hamilton secretary Mr. Roger Sherratt.

From December 11, however, motorists will have to pay $2.50 per day.

Mr. Sherratt said the three-storey car park would be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. "There will only be all-day parking. Although it's pay and display like other car parks, we are planning on having a special card system.'' Mr. Sherratt said the car park was large enough for 720 vehicles, and would be well-lit. Security measures had also been taken.

"It's obviously brand new, and it might take motorists a few days to get used to entering and leaving the car park. There is an elevator and there are ramps for easy access, but we ask motorists to drive carefully for the first few days. We will have some staff available helping to direct traffic.'' He added: "Right now we are applying the finishing touches, such as putting plants around it.

"We are very pleased with way it looks, and believe it's going to be very successful and well used.''
