Fired-up Cougars are all set to tackle Village

Devonshire Cougars (in yellow and green) renew their rivalry with North Village tomorrow/

Sparks are expected to fly tomorrow at Bernard Park when Premier Division champions North Village take on rejuvenated Devonshire Cougars in the day's feature contest.

Village sat idle last weekend after a lack of match officials threw cold water on their season opener against Boulevard at BAA Field.

Village, defending two-time league champions, will now officially kick off their quest for a three-peat of championships.

The reds have brushed aside all opposition thus far and are again heavily favoured to extend their fine early season form heading into tomorrow's derby against their cross-town rivals.

However, they could be taken to task coming up against a Cougars side, who like Village, certainly know their way around the goal area.

Cougars are coming off a convincing 3-0 away shut-out win over Southampton Rangers last weekend. Albert Smith's side have also bagged eight goals in their last three matches.

Tomorrow's contest will also feature two of the Island's hottest young strikers in Village's Ralph Bean Jr and last season's top poacher and Most Valuable Player Raymond Beach of Cougars, while former Village player Domico Coddington is set to match-up for the first time against his former club.

It is unclear whether or not Cougars' striker Heys Wolfe has fully recovered from a slight ankle injury. Wolfe missed last weekend's match against Rangers.

Elsewhere in tomorrow's Premier Division action, Hamilton Parish, presently flying high following last week's win over Colts, travel to Southampton Oval to take on Rangers while further west at White Hill Field, Somerset Eagles square off against Colts in a match pitting landlord against tenant. Both clubs will be looking for their first league win of the season.

Dandy Town, meanwhile, host Boulevard in what also should be an exciting affair at St.John's Field.

In First Division play, Paget take Prospect at White Hill Field, Social Club meet St.George's at Bernard Park and St.David's host Somerset Trojans at Lord's.

Wolves and PHC will do battle at Devonshire Recreation Club.
