Fox picks up Swan's latest film
starring R&B singer Aaliyah -- has been picked up by entertainment company Fox 2000.
Ms Swan won much international acclaim from her first film, `Mixing Nia', which won the Bermuda International Film Festival in 1998.
In addition to the BIFF award, `Mixing Nia' took prizes at the Houston Film Festival and the Acapulco Black Film Festival. Ms Swan is acting as both scriptwriter and director on `Some Kind of Blue', according to an article in The Hollywood Reporter.
The story, set during the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, is about a man who falls in love with his jazz idol's daughter (Aaliyah).
Singer Aaliyah has signed on for a number of acting projects including Anne Rice's `Queen of the Damned' and the sequel to `The Matrix'.
Last summer Ms Swan married `Soul Food' producer Robert Teitel.
Mr. Teitel will be producing `Some Kind of Blue' along with `Soul Food' director George Tillman.
Financial details of the deal were not released.
