Hurricane Andrew, the most recent storm to menace the Southern Florida area almost three years ago, killed 15 people and caused nearly $16 billion in damage to property.

Meanwhile, local officials at the United States Navy's weather office are on alert, but have no real idea of what this year's hurricane season has in store.

"We haven't heard anything about predictions for the year yet,'' a spokesman told The Royal Gazette yesterday. "It's still too early.'' Names chosen for the 1995 Atlantic hurricane season are as follows: Allison, Barry, Chantal, Dean, Erin, Felix, Gabrielle, Humberto, Iris, Jerry, Karen, Luis, Marilyn, Noel, Opal, Pablo, Roxanne, Sebastien, Tanya, Van and Wendy.

A small craft warning was issued at 11 a.m. yesterday and will remain in effect until noon today. Winds were predicted from the northeast at 20 to 25 knots with gusts to 30 knots. Seas inside the reef were expected to be two to four feet, seas outside the reef were expected to be five to seven feet.

TOM'S HALF WAY TO HIS DESTINATION FNR Tom's half way to his destination Tom Butterfield's cycle ride across England is well on course and has raised more than $120,000 for the Masterworks Foundation.

Mr. Butterfield has completed more than half of the journey which will terminate on Thursday at the Hurlingham Club in London.

He set out from Edinburgh, Scotland, last Wednesday and has so far travelled more than 225 miles.

Yesterday he had reached the Midlands city of Nottingham, and he is expected to get to Leicester by the end of today.

There he will stay overnight at the Stapleford Park Hotel before pressing on towards London tomorrow.
