Perfumery signs distribution agreement with US company
US firm Caswell-Massey Co., Inc. and The Bermuda Perfumery have reached an agreement to distribute each other's products.
The New Jersey-based company is one of America's oldest perfumers and chemists.
Caswell-Massey will have the sole distribution rights for the products of The Bermuda Perfumery within the United States.
Mr. Michael Appel, president of Caswell-Massey, was in Bermuda last week to clinch the deal.
He said: "We're very pleased to be able to offer Bermudian perfumes in our 26 stores throughout the US and through our mail order catalogue.
"The results have been exceedingly encouraging to date and we look forward to a long association.'' Mr. Colin Curtis, managing director of The Bermuda Perfumery, said he was proud to be associated with Caswell-Massey and praised the quality of their products.
The Bermuda Perfumery, which is one of the Island's few manufacturing companies, currently makes eleven fragrances -- seven for women and four for men.
The Calabash Gift Shop, at the Perfumery's site in Bailey's Bay, offers 43 different soaps and a complete line of luxury bath products.
Mr. Curtis said: "This new arrangement will allow the Perfumery to expand its sales within the United States at a fraction of the cost that such an effort would otherwise entail.'' As well as the Calabash Gift Shop, Caswell-Massey's products are also available in Bermuda from A. S. Cooper's stores.
