Singleton 44th at Luge Worlds

Singleton, who sealed his place in next year's Winter Olympics by qualifying for yesterday's race, said he felt he could have done better.

Championships in Calgary, Canada, yesterday.

Singleton, who sealed his place in next year's Winter Olympics by qualifying for yesterday's race, said he felt he could have done better.

"My first run was average, but I had clocked some fast times in qualifying and I expected to be about six tenths of a second faster than I was,'' said Singleton.

"I made some mistakes on my second run. I made an error at curve 10 and skidded and that cost me a lot of time.'' Yesterday's race was the last of the season for the Japan-based 26-year-old, who will take a short break before throwing himself into training for next season, which will reach its climax at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.
